 Festival Warisan Sarawak

It was so much fun to dance during the Festival Warisan Sarawak! We practiced for weeks, mastering every move of a vibrant, enjoyable traditional dance; it was all about joy and energy, unlike the fierce warrior dances. Laughs, blunders, and honing the motions were all part of the rehearsal process, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Backstage was alive with anticipation on the big day. We were prepared to take the stage, decked out in vibrant costumes. All of my nerves vanished as soon as the music began. We gave it our all as the rhythm took over and we danced. The audience cheered and applauded enthusiastically. There were lots of smiles, energy, and spontaneity, and it was just plain fun.

The thrill of performing at the festival will never be forgotten. From rehearsal to performance, the main goals were to have fun, celebrate culture, and spread a small portion of Sarawak's happiness to the rest of the world!

Life Of A Dancer

The battle to move is the first step in a full day of dancing, followed by stretches that make you realise how stiff you are. After technique exercises, which involve repeating movements until they (ideally) click, you have a quick lunch, which is typically something quick and nourishing, like a protein bar. There will be a lot of forgetting steps and self-loathing until everything *finally* comes together because the afternoon is all about choreography.

It's time to relax with the group after practice, which includes having dinner, exchanging tales of spectacular failures, and simply basking in the warmth from the dance. Your body hurts at the end of the day, but the enjoyment, giggles, and growth make it all worthwhile.

BBA INTERACTION DAY

A faculty club hosted a unique activity for first-year students, and the organizers selected my buddy and I at random to take part. We were initially unsure of what to anticipate, but it ended up being an amazing experience. Everyone was kept entertained by the day's abundance of entertaining and captivating activities. Along the way, we created new memories while laughing, connecting, and having a great time. It provided the ideal setting for socializing, relaxing, and commemorating the beginning of this new phase of our academic careers.

We were shocked to learn that we had finished fourth in the competition, and we were even more shocked to learn that we had received a large hamper as a prize. We were able to enjoy the occasion with everyone involved, which added an additional dimension of happiness and connection to the experience, making the joy of this unexpected accomplishment even more remarkable.

In hindsight, it was the ideal day. Everyone was pulled together by the friendly competition, laughter, and good times. We not only grew closer as a result of the activities, but we also made lifelong memories. Although it was satisfying to participate and perform so well, the friendships were more important.

MBH

There is a competition held in my college especially for the first-year students to participate in. It's called Malam Bakat Hussein. There were three categories of competition, which were singing, dancing, and acting. I took part in dancing. My group was chosen randomly by the organizer because we can make new friends. Since it was my first time on stage in a long time, I wasn't very confident at first, but my team has helped me become bold. We begin to rehearse, investing time and effort into making every detail flawless. We put a lot of effort into learning the choreography and all the routines practically every night before the competition. Every practice session turns into a chance to hone our motions, coordinate with one another, and further polish the routine to make it as smooth and perfect as possible.

When the day of the competition finally arrives, all of our hard work and dedication pay off. As we step onto the stage, we give it everything we have, performing with confidence and passion. The energy from the crowd and the pride in our teamwork fuel our performance, and when the results are announced, we can hardly believe it; we’ve won first place! The victory feels even sweeter, knowing how much effort and heart we poured into every single moment of preparation. It’s a memory we’ll cherish forever.
